The Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa, is the first of a network of about 18 planned academies to be established across Africa, South and Central Asia, and the Middle East to provide a world-class education to exceptional students who possess strong leadership potential. Admission to the Academy is based on merit, and financial aid is available to ensure access for students with demonstrated need. Pluralism is a core value and dimension of the educational programme at the Academy, and we are proud that the student body of the Academy reflects the full diversity of East Africa, including students from all socio-economic backgrounds.
The Academy is an intellectually rigorous environment. The approach to teaching and learning is student centred. This progressive approach emphasises the development of critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills. The Academy is an International Baccalaureate World School—the IB curriculum is locally rooted and globally relevant. Our graduates consistently earn places and scholarships at top universities worldwide.
We cater for students from primary to upper secondary levels. A strong, nurturing residential programme is available for secondary students fostering students’ self-discipline, personal responsibility and leadership skills. Academy teachers serve as Dorm Parents, and the small student-to-teacher ratio in the student residences assures a disciplined and caring environment. Careful attention is paid to students’ academic achievement and to their physical, emotional and spiritual development.
We welcome you to visit us for one of our daily tours or come to one of our Open Days. We are proud of our outstanding facilities, and would be pleased to share with you the excitement in learning that our students typically display. You will see the diversity of our curriculum and co-curricular life, and be impressed by our beautiful campus which overlooks the Indian Ocean.
Welcome to the Aga Khan Academy!
